about

"No. 1 Jazz Record of the Year 1999"
- Jazz Journal International (UK), The Critics Choice

"If you like Mainstream Jazz played by superb soloists backed by a tight swinging rhythm section then you can do no better than go out and get this disc. By any standards Moss and Willams are world-class..."
- John Martin, Jazz Rag (UK)

"This is a superb recording on many levels and one that you should have in your collection whether you are old enough to remember the Swing Era or are a student trying to understand the essence and the roots of great jazz. Trombonists and tenor players should listen to it over and over..."
- Bill Spilka, International Trombone Association Journal (USA)

"Steamers! is an album you'll put out after a hard day at the office, on the freeway or when entertaining in an intimate setting..."
- Dave Nathan, CD Review (USA)

"This is special ... Great thanks are due whoever dreamed up this."
- Russ Chase, IAJRC Journal (USA)

"If you are looking for an album that swings easily from start to finish try Steamers!, on which crafty veterans Danny Moss and Roy Williams lead a broadshouldered quintet ... backed by an eminent swing-oriented threesome rhythm team ... The result of the collaboration is a session that's a pleasure to hear."
- Jack Bowers, Cadence (USA)

"Nobody handles this kind of session better than Roy Williams ... Danny Moss is the perfect foil, not least for the contrast with Williams during various tenor-trombone duets..."
- Ronald Atkins, Cadence (USA)

"No wonder this disc won the British Magazine Jazz Journal's 'Record of the Year'! What more could you want? Here are two of the finest of Britain's jazz musicians in prime form ... This is a classic mainstream set which I cannot recommend highly enough."
- 2 MBS-FM Stereo, FM Radio (Australia)
